Customs Training

IOM Turkey, Immigration and Border Management Department conducted another inter-agency exercise on 23-24 March at Ankara Esenboğa Airport. This exercise aims to test Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on cargo controls. The exercise to test SOPs covered two selected topics; broken airline pallets and false declaration of incoming cargo. The activity was facilitated by two national experts and was attended by a total of 24 participants from the Ministry of Trade, Turkish National Police, State Airports Authority, ground services (TGS and Çelebi), customs brokers, and major airline companies such as Qatar Airways and THY. The two-day programme provided a platform for participants to discuss their duties and responsibilities as well as to provide their comments, proposals, and inputs into the SOPs. Within the scope of the project, the activity is expected to contribute to strengthening the practical aspects of inter-agency cooperation based on the developed SOPs.
