Chief of Mission

Lado Gvilava joined IOM Turkey as Chief of Mission in August 2015. With 22 years of experience implementing and administering IOM’s large-scale emergency and post-crisis projects, Lado has proved his success in strategically planning migration management programmes. His innovative approach to the field of operations, including a special emphasis on careful management of supply chains promotes programing that is evidence-based. Most recently, Lado was Head of IOM Iraq Regional Hub. He has also served in Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Cyprus and Jordan with emergency assignments to Sudan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia, Myanmar and Lebanon. Lado is using his experience to work with the Government of Turkey and other partners in the country for the mutual benefit of migrants and the Turkish host community.
